Reports: Jose Mourinho sought by European giants after being sidelined for Real Madrid job

Until yesterday, Jose Mourinho was regarded as the Number one choice for Real Madrid to make their new manager, in place of Santiago Solari.

But all of a sudden, Zinedine Zidane was chosen to be reappointed in the role, just nine months after he resigned from his position following Real Madrid’s third successive Champions League triumph in May.
The Frenchman’s new contract will run until 2022. Meanwhile, Real Madrid is looking for a shift of fortunes in the upcoming seasons after a dismal 2018-’19. They have been eliminated from the Champions League and the Copa Del Rey, with not much hope of a title win remaining in the La Liga either.
At the same time, now that Jose Mourinho is unoccupied save his punditry role at beIN Sports, other top European club’s have considered meeting with the former Manchester United boss so as to arrange a possible managerial deal.
The Sun reports that Paris Saint Germain might want to get the Portuguese in their books, provided they are no longer interested in continuing Thomas Tuchel’s services at the end of the season.
They also quoted Mourinho’s words in explaining that he was interested to work in the Ligue 1. “I can imagine myself as a coach in Ligue 1. I am a man who has worked in four different countries, I like to know and learn other cultures. Working in a new championship would be a fantastic experience,” he had said.
PSG have a history of sacking managers who have failed to deliver in the Champions League – the most recent names to fall in that category being Unai Emery and Laurent Blanc. Tuchel may follow the same route, thanks to how they bottled a 2-0 advantage from the first-leg, to go out losing 3-1 to Manchester United, in the second leg of the Round-of-16 just a week ago.
Jose Mourinho meanwhile, is one title away from being the only manager with three Champions Leagues across three different European leagues, and PSG could be where he will finally complete the achievement. He has never coached a Ligue 1 team so far.
